Sumiko Resources Exploration & Development (SRED) was founded in 1963 by Sumitomo Metal Mining Co., Ltd. (SMM), a major non-ferrous metal mining and smelting company based in Japan, as a consulting firm for resources exploration and environmental investigation using geological, geophysical and drilling surveys. Following Sumitomo's business spirit of "placing prime importance on integrity and sound management," we have strived to contribute to the development of society both at home and abroad. Our efforts have been focused on constantly developing and introducing a large variety of advanced technologies to swiftly and flexibly meet social needs.
In Japan, we have made great strides in prospecting, exploitation and development in SMM's mining projects, particularly the Hishikari Mine, the largest gold mine in Japan. We have also been engaged in the nationwide projects for exploration of geothermal and mineral resources, including seabed materials, and in establishment of the seismographic networks for prediction of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
In the international scene, we conducted mineral, energy and water resources exploration for Official Development Assistance projects supported by Japanese government, as well as for the securing of resources. Utilizing the broad business network established through our overseas achievements and experience, we have enhanced our technological capabilities and human resources to address forthcoming internationalization of our consulting business.
As a trustworthy consulting firm in the field of resources exploration and environment investigation, all directors and staff at SRED will strive to contribute to society through our business activities as well as further developing technologies based on our wide range of experience.
We appreciate your further patronage.
