We participated in a booth exhibit of the Tono Research Institute of Earthquake Science (TRIES) at IAG-IASPEI 2017, the Joint Scientific Assembly of the International Association of Geodesy (IAG) and International Association of Seismology and Physics of the Earth’s Interior (IASPEI), held in Kobe from July 30 to August 4, 2017.

We are offering short-term internships for study abroad students from mid-September to the end of September, 2017.

At a meeting of the Japan Meteorological Agency’s Seismology and Volcanology Department on July 13, 2017, we made a joint presentation with the equipment manufacturer regarding the latest crustal activity comprehensive observation unit and underground installation method.

On July 4, 2017, Nakamura, from the Administration Section of our Hishikari District Office, received a special prize from the Kyushu Industrial Safety and Inspection Department as the 2017 mine safety slogan winner. “I want to pass on correct procedures and safety awareness, and I want to carry on a craftsman’s skill and a record of zero accidents.”

We joined the Geothermal Research Association of Japan in June 2017.

On June 8, 2016, Sakamoto, manager of our Mining Department’s Hishikari District Office, received the 2016 Kyushu Mine Safety Award from METI’s Kyushu Industrial Safety and Inspection Department.This was the result of years of meritorious safety-related achievements at the Hishikari Mine.

We have added blue and yellow to our 200 g composite rod size, and now have 7 sizes and 11 types. Try them when welding thin areas.

On May 27, 2016, Takimoto, from the Mining Section of our Hishikari District Office, received the President’s Award from the Kagoshima Prefecture Explosives Safety Association. Takimoto, who has been a qualified blaster for 31 years (since 1985), has engaged in explosives handling and blasting work at the Hishikari Mine. He received this award for his great contribution to safety in mine blasting work.
